Late Wednesday night provided great news for Randy Travis and his fans, as he was released from the Baylor Heart and Vascular Hospital. The country music star, who had been hospitalized since July 10, was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy (weakening of the heart muscles caused by a viral infection) along with congestive heart failure and suffered a possible stroke while in recovery. He will now move to a physical therapy facility but the location of this facility is still unknown.
Travis’ fiancée, Mary Davis, provided a statement to the press, “Thanks to all the fans and friends for your continued prayers and support as Randy continues on the road to recovery.” Doctors still are saying that it will take months of aggressive physical therapy for Travis to recover.
The past two years have been a difficult for Travis as he has been trying to put the pieces of his life back together. Besides the illness in early July, there has been a couple of public incidents involving alcohol. In January, the country legend plead guilty to driving while intoxicated. The previous year he was also arrested for an alcohol related incident and received two years of probation and a $2,000 fine. He was required to spend at least 30 days at an alcohol treatment facility and complete 100 hours of community service.
Future information about Travis’ condition will be provided.
