Ground Report

A British couple on a crippled yacht in the middle of the Atlantic ocean  for 40 days dified death.Stuart Armstrong and Andrea Davison who were sailing on their 60,000 pounds, 13 metre vessel from West Africa to Caribbean isle Antigua found to their horror that the rudder had jammed after six days of sailing..Coast guards said it was too far for a rescue as the yacht was 1200 miles from the land. The couple spent 40 days floating aimlessly ,praying for a miracle as fierce  storms threatened to sink them. Initially they were not worried as they had sufficient supply of provisions but later they started fearing for the worst. And to add to their misery, main power supply also broke down and unable to use their desalination unit to make sea water drinkable.When they were 320 miles from Bermuda, running out of food and water, they deperately radioed for help once more, though the coast guards warned them of another storm.On February18, supertanker Indian Point heard the SOS and headed for the couple 70 miles away to pick them.The conditions and the size of the vessels made the rescue difficult and took two hours to rescue the couple, Well! Truely it was a miracle.
