CPI (M) sweeps Tripura Assembly Elections, Hung assembly in Megalaya

CPI (M) party swept the Tripura Assembly elections winning three fourth assembly seats on its own.In a total strength of 60 seats, elections were held for all the assembly seats, out of which, the CPI(M)led front won 49 assembly seats,CPI (M) alone,46 seats, improving its previous performance in the 2003 elections by five seats.Congress I won 10 seats and its ally 1 seat.

In Megalaya, out of 59 assembly seats, elections were held in 58 seats, in which Congress I won 25 seats, as the single largest party and the Nationalist Congress party won 14 seats, BJP winning just 1 seat and the other seats were won by the regional parties and 5 seats went to the independants. Both Congress I and the Nationalist Congress are making active parleys and wooing other parties and independants to form a government.

The Sweeping victory of CPI (M) in Tripura assembly is impressive, since the party has been voted back to power for the fourth time and it has not been affected by the anti-incumbancy factor. The reasons ascribed for the thumping victory of CPI(M) led by Manik Sarkar is the sincere welfare measures that it had taken, steps to tackle unemployment, peaceful atmosphere prevailed in Tripura which prompted the countries like China, Japan etc to extend their monetary help and  making their own investments in Tripura. On the other hand Congress I had an opportunistic alliance with a regional party, resulted in a poor performance in the Tripura assembly elections.
