Srinagar, June 07 (Scoop News) – On the instructions of Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon, a team of Drug & Food Control Organisation crackdown on cigarette vendors outside educational institutions in Srinagar Kashmir.
According to a statement a team of Drug & Food Control Organisation comprising of Nazir Ahmed, Deputy Controller, Shabir Ahmed Lone Food Inspector and representatives from Health Department and Police officials raided various shops selling cigarettes and tobacco products within 100 yards of Educational Institutions, in violation of Section 6(a) of Anti Tobacco Act (COTPA) and recovered a fine of Rs 4,150 from them. The shop keepers were warned to desist from sale of cigarettes and tobacco products in the vicinity of educational institutions and to minors below 18 years of age.
The shopkeepers selling tobacco near educational isntitutions who were challaned include Bashir Ahmed Daga, Farooq Ahmed Khan, Sarwar Ahmed Khan & Rayees Ahmed Rather selling cigarettes outside Arya Samaj Devki Patra Educational Institute, Wazir bagh;
Mushtaq Ahmed Baba near Kashmir Government Polytechnic Gogjibagh; Mehraj-ud-din Wani outside DAV School Jawahar Nagar; Bashir Ahmed Sofi & Nisar Ahmed Sofi outside Amarsingh College; Abdul Rashid & Fayaz Ahmed Dar outside Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School Rajbagh; Manzoor Ahmed, Mohammed Saleem Rather & Jalal-ud-din Bhat outside
Abdul Majeed Khan outside NIT Hazratbal; Mohammed Amin Bhat, Nisar Ahmed Dar, Abdul Rasheed Rather, Mehraj-ud-din, Abdul Rasheed Gojri & Haji Ghulam Qadir outside Univeristy of Kashmir Hazratbal.
