Jammu, (Scoop News) – Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Mehbooba Mufti said that the young Chief Minister of J&K and his government has failed to come up to the expectations of all sections of the society.
In her 45 minutes speech in Lagasitve Assembly Mehbooba mentioned that crime graph in Jammu region was on rise due to nexus between politicians and criminals. "You have taken action against some criminals but we have information that actions were taken only to grab business of these arrested persons by some persons closed to you", she told the Chief Minister.
PDP president said that National Conference government has renegade all its promises which the party has made with the people from time to time. She mentioned that government had promised to withdraw FIR against 5000 youth but nothing has been done so far. She warned to come on streets if cases are not withdrawn against the youth.
Initiating debate in the Assembly on departments under the purview of Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti sarcastically said that people had high hopes from this "young" and "dynamic" Chief Minister but he has proved as "dynamite" for the people because he has dashed hopes of the every sections of the society. "Central government has given you unflinching support at every crucial moment be it in the case of the mysterious killing of Haji Yousuf, killing of 120 innocent youth or scam in Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) but unfortunately you have failed to utilize this support for the well being of the people of Jammu and Kashmir", she told the Chief Minister, adding, " the constant support you are getting from the Centre can be utilized for the betterment of the people but you brazenly mis-used this support and failed to address basic problems of the masses".
She lamented that institutions like State Accountability Commission (SAC) have been weaken by the government itself by approaching the Court of Law against various actions taken by the SAC. "Even Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has himself approached the Court of Law against directions passed by the SAC which is really a very bad and serious development", she observed.
PDP Legislature Party leader said that youth of the State was the worst victim of the policies being propagated by this government and the policies of the government were fueling alienation among younger generation.
Ridiculing National Conference leadership for demanding autonomy for the State, she said that those demanding autonomy for the state have singed NCTC despite the fact that many states of the country have opposed this proposal. "As this regime has nothing to show as its performance so National Conference leadership has been bartering away interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir to remain in power", she said and raised question over the intension of the State Government in its demand of revocation of Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA). She said that besides natural resources of the state, the present regime has also surrendered Jammu and Kashmir Bank.
"With much publicity the Chief Minister has announced constitution of Truth and Reconciliation but nothing has been done so far. Similarly government’s policy to rehabilitate youth who have crossed over to other side of the Kashmir is still also in pipeline", she said.
Quoting media reports said that Central government has been claiming that recommendations of various Working Groups constituted by the Prime Minister have been implemented but nothing visible on ground. "I want reply from the government", she said. On failure of the government to withdraw cases against 5000 youth, she said that her party would agitate on this issue. "National Conference is welcome to go to Delhi to complain that PDP is with stone pelters", she said. Pointing towards rampant corruption in the State, she said that Anna Hazare has started a war against crime and corruption in the country but in Jammu and Kashmir corruption has been legalized. She mentioned towards mysterious killing of Haji Yousuf and scam in the JKCA. According to an estimate Haji Yousuf had collected Rs 5 crore from different persons but nothing concrete has been done to probe where the money has gone.
