Jammu, February 11 (Scoop News) –J&K Chief Secretary, Madhav Lal today appealed people to fully cooperate with the enumerators and provide factual information to them.
Interacting with a group of Census Officers who had come to him for the enumeration process, the Chief Secretary said census operations provide vital information to the development agencies for framing plans and policies for people. He said the periodic exercise also apprises the Government about the impact of the policies and programmes undertaken earlier.
Madhav Lal enquired from the Census Officers about the progress in the enumeration process in the State. He also enquired about the mode of enumeration and the number of enumerators involved in the exercise. On the occasion, the Chief Secretary filled up the requisite form and recorded his signatures thereon.
Briefing the Chief Secretary about the exercise, Director Census Operations, Farooq Ahmad said that 27,500 enumerators have been deployed for the purpose across the State. He said for the first time the census would also include data on the disabled and the slums which would be handy for the policy planners.
The Director presented to the Chief Secretary a memento and a census diary on the occasion.
Joint Director Census Operations, C. S. Sapru and the local enumerator, Mrs Shahnaz were also present on the occasion.
