Following the communal violence of Friday in the Kishtwar district of Jammu region,seven out of 10 districts have been put under the spell of curfew.
On Sunday, Curfew was imposed in three more districts of the Jammu region and Army staged flag marches .This came in the aftermath of orders of the J&K government prohibiting politicians to enter violence-hit Kishtwar. The Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley, was held at the. Airport. The BJP Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab Avinash Rai Khanna and state BJP President Jugal Kishore was also detained by police while they were moving towards Kathua this morning to accompany Arun Jaitley to KIshtwar.
On Friday, following the communal riots in the district Kishtwar curfew was imposed which is in force for the third consecutive day. Two persons were officially declared dead and number of others injured.
The situation became violent in Jammu and Rajouri districts. Army was called out in the wake of incidents of arson and violence last night and curfew was imposed. Today curfew was extended to Udhampur, Samba and Kathua districts and in the town of Bhaderwah in Doda district.
At Srinagar, PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti said that she was not permitted to leave her house for a visit to Kishtwar and other violence hit areas of Jammu region.
