The Dalai Lama was awarded on Tuesday the 20th of May of the Honorary Doctorate in London Metropolitan University. After the high-flown presentation of the Vice-Chancellor Brian Roper, the Dalai Lama gave us a much more relaxed and informal speech. Short thank you in TIbetan language and the rest in his "broken English."
The first thing you notice about the Dalai Lama is that he doesn’t stop smiling. During the ceremony and his whole speech the public could enjoy the pleasant company of one of the most important people in the world and one of the few worth it to meet nowadays.
He’s the spiritual and political leader of Tibet and reference for any promoter of peace, indipendently of the religion and the country. He was awarded in 1989 of Nobel Peace Prize and he has travelled across the world touching over 60 countries to meet presidents, prime ministers and kings and queens.
He devoted his whole life to promote peace and human values and as he told us last Tuesday, "When I meet someone I immediately feel we are old friends. I don’t care about the language, we all are human, aren’t we?".
