On Friday morning 2am in Indonesian capital, a reservoir wall burst. In the 10-feet high flood at least 50 people, including four children were killed and the death toll was expected to rise as many people were sleeping when the disaster occurred and were unable to escape.
Rustam Pakaya the health ministry official said, "Hundreds of houses are flooded, tens of houses damaged, it was like a small tsunami,"
Danang Susanto, local official said, 2am the dam burst "But before that there was heavy rain and wind, many trees were uprooted. People were still sleeping and couldn’t do anything."
A century ago at the Pesanggrahan river 32-foot-high dam was built up to holding back around 70 million cubic feet of water. The root cause of this disaster is believed heavy rains caused the dam to first overflow and then, because the foundation was not made of concrete, to burst. The investigation to determine the cause of the accident is started by the local officials.
