Srinagar,March 21 (Scoop News) –– On the instructions of Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon all the Deputy Commissioners of Valley constituted joint multi-disciplinary assessment teams to verify the quantum of damage caused due to the windstorm.
Officer on Special Duty (OSD) Aamir Ali in the office of Div.Com Kashmir said that death till rose to three, as two more persons died due to the windstorm. Mohammed Akram Rigoo son of Ghulam Mohammed Rigo of Khew aged 65 year died at SKIMS after he got injured due to a tree falling on him. Another child Tajamul Bhat son of Mohammed Ashraf of Shapora Qazigund also died. 29 persons received injuries and are under treatment at various hospitals. 95 residential houses got fully damaged, while 11,641 residential houses were partially damaged, 4,074 non-residential houses got partially damaged, 25 Government buildings, 16 school buildings, and 1 hospital building were partially damaged. 10 House boats were also severely damaged. A joint team of LAWDA, Revenue, Nehru Park Police, Tourist Police, River Police House Boast Owners Association inspected over 108 House boats that have got partially or marginally damaged.
He said that Chief Engineer EM&RE Kashmir informed that the damage to the LT/HT transmission network is tentatively estimated to the tune of Rs 4.66 Crores. The department has restored 700 MW of power as against 900 MW total requirement. Temporary restoration is in progress and is likely to be completed in the next three days.
