Argi, Darfur – March 14, 2013, At the beginning of February, numerous eyes witnessed in the area of Kuttum (Sudan) saw Islamist radicals, who escaped offensive of French and African armies in Mail, seeking refuge in Darfur.
Since then, credible sources confirmed that 4 wheel drives, from an Arab nation, were shipped to Port Sudan, the amain sea route of Sudan, to be delivered to the radical groups recently re-grouped in Kuttm and el-Geneina areas in Darfur.
Some analysts said the shipment is likely to be delivered to the radical groups stationed in el-Geneina area, near the border with Chad, to carry attacks against Chad because of its participation with French troops in Mali.
It is increasingly becoming clear that Darfur will undoubtedly be the new breading ground for the international terrorism if international community keeps silent.
In 1993, US State Department first labeled Sudan a sponsor of terrorism, accusing Sudan of harboring members of al-Qaeda, Hezbollah, Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the Abu Nidal Organization, Jamaat al-Islamiyya, and Egyptian Islamic Jihad, each classified as a terrorist organization.
In 1998, al-Qaeda operatives based in Sudan were allegedly involved in the bombings of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.
Sudan has a strong historic link with al-Qaeda since it hosted al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in 1991. Khartoum then became a solid operational ground for terrorists.
In 2009 Israel destroyed a convoy inside Sudan carrying weapons to Hamas in the Gaza Strip and in 2010 killed an arms smuggler who was also thought to have been supplying Hamas.
Ray Al-Sha’b, Sudanese newspaper reported in May 2010 that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards was operating a secret weapons factory in Sudan to supply weapons to terrorist groups in the region. The paper was instantaneously closed and the deputy editor was arrested by the regime.
The bombing of Yarmouk military industry, the largest arms industry in Africa, on October 23rd, 2012 by Israel could be a trigger for the international community.
Reacting to the Yarmouk explosion, Sudanese opposition figures confirmed that the Yarmouk Compound was being used to aid Iran’s geopolitical objectives in the Holy Land
Gill Lusk of Africa Confidential says the Yarmouk attack is a wake-up call for the international community.
International Criminal Court (ICC) at The Hague indicted the president of Sudan for war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide carried out in Darfur. Sudanese minister of defense Abdel Rahim Mohamed Hussein, governor of South Kordofan Ahmed Haroun and janjaweed leader Ali kushyb were also indicted by the ICC for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
It seems that war against international terrorism is slowing down. Shouldn’t international community take its responsibility of being less neutral and less silent in addressing the international terrorism anywhere and anytime?
