LAHORE: PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif on Friday declared rebellion against the situation. He asked the people to get ready for offering sacrifices for a revolution in the country.
Addressing a charged rally at The Mall, Nawaz said time had come that the people should come on streets to change their destiny. He asked the people to take part in the long march of lawyers, if they wanted to change their fate.
“The people will have to reach Islamabad at all costs. We will bring a revolution together. Now, things will be decided on the roads,” Nawaz said. The PML-N Quaid said the people were facing a grim situation, because they had not learnt to rise up against the system.
He said his party would fight a war against the prevailing system and high-handedness of the government. He expressed the hope that Shahbaz Sharif would again become the Punjab chief minister.
Nawaz asked the people to observe more strikes in the coming days. He alleged that the society was facing unrest, turmoil and anxiety because of the wrong and inconsistent policies of the previous and incumbent governments.
He said he was ready to sacrifice everything he had for the sake of the people. “I will go to Islamabad with you, shoulder-to-shoulder,” he added.
Hinting at conspiracies hatched against democracy in the country, Nawaz hoped that the people would foil every such attempt. He pledged to fulfil all the promises he made, once his party came to power.
He said except for his party, all the past governments had done nothing for the people and violated the Constitution for their personal gains. He said the country could not afford upheavals. He lauded the traders’ community for observing a successful strike in support of the PML-N on Friday. He said the soul of Benazir Bhutto must be restless because of the policies of the PPP government.
Nawaz said even a number of PPP leaders had admitted that the court decision against him and Shahbaz Sharif was wrong . He said the PPP leaders should force Zardari to change his policies.
He said he had shaken hands with Zardari with sincerity and greater hopes, but he backstabbed and ditched them and the nation. “The country was on its way to prosperity in 1999 due to the massive public mandate given to his party. But the progress was halted by a dictator,” Nawaz said.
