I have lived twenty-one blessed years. The Lord has truly been good to me even though I do not deserve it. I feel that he has blessed every one in America as well. How?, Some would ask. My reply… life. He has given us life that we do not deserve. We in turn have turned away and scorned what is sacred and true. We have been a society that wants nothing to do with God or his commandments. It is no longer "freedom of religion",but rather freedom from religion. We exalt movies like "Saw III", but bash anything or anyone attached to Christ and his teachings. I am not perfect and realize my need for a savior. I deserve hell, but because God is merciful he sent Christ into the world. Christ died for the sins of all who confess and believe that he is Lord and savior. My heart aches that so many people want nothing to do with this. We have become like the old Roman Empire. We are gluttons, greedy, malicious, slanderous, deceitful, and idolators. Our "idols" are cars, money, looks, success, entertainment, and much more. Rome was corrputed from the inside and eventually fell. Granted, we are not exaclty alike, but the similarities are there. I am not saying that the world is ending and everyone is going to burn, no, just the opposite. My prayer is and will always be that all will come to know Christ as their savior. In the meantime we should watch what we focus our time and energy on. Movies like "Saw" and "Hostel" and many others will do nothing but dehumanize society. It is time to wake-up and turn away from what is evil and degrading. As the Apostle Paul writes, "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things"(Phil. 4:8, NIV).
