Dedicated Cinematographer Kristin Fieldhouse

Talented Cinematographer Kristin Fieldhouse

Originally from London, England, Kristin Fieldhouse is a cinematographer whose skills stem from almost a lifetime of being behind a camera, “I discovered cinematography through my love of photography, which began when I was twelve years old.” Fieldhouse took her cinematography talents to the next level after completing a master’s degree at the American Film Institute, a competitive conservatory program that only admits 28 cinematographers a year. She has since gone on to work with directors such as Oscar Award winner Jonathan Demme, the director of The Silence of the Lambs and The Manchurian Candidate, and Len Wiseman with whom she worked with on the film Total Recall.

Kristin Fieldhouse’s superior talents as a cinematographer extend into virtually every genre and platform. As the cinematographer of the multi-award winning film Young Americans, Fieldhouse received the award for Best Cinematography at the Milledgeville Film Festival and the John Kelly Award for Excellence in Cinematography at the Fresno Film Festival in 2014.

Fieldhouse also recently worked as the cinematographer on a commercial for leading global athletics company Nike. Using her creative eye, expertise in lighting and unique camera angles, Fieldhouse helped to develop a satirical commercial where, thanks to his Nike running shoes, a man looks like he’s actually enjoying himself while running away from zombies in and apocalypse. She worked alongside leading advertising director Jason Tucker, who recently received the Cannes Film Festival’s Gold and Silver Awards, on the commercial.

Over the years Fieldhouse has amassed an incredible repertoire of work that includes several films, television shows, commercials and music videos. As a music video cinematographer, she shot the video for multiple-award winning contemporary Canadian artist Emma-Lee’s song “Flow.” In the video, Fieldhouse successfully captured the passion of both the song and the artist with her signature style and charmingly simplistic visuals, which allow the viewer to focus on the story unfolding before them.

While Fieldhouse’s primary focus is cinematography, she has also worked as a writer and producer. In her 2013 black and white narrative film entitled Tess, Fieldhouse proved her ability to tackle multiple roles working as the film’s writer, producer and cinematographer. The film silently tells a poetic story about two young lovers who grow old together. Creating a captivating and visually enthralling film that is almost impossible to take your eyes off, Tess is a perfect display of Fieldhouse’s incredible cinematographic skills.

Some of Fieldhouse’s other films include He’s the Best, Future Me, Kepler X-47, The Man Who Found DB Cooper, Hide & Seek, Things Go Wrong, Release, The Tent, and Life In The Gutter, as well as the films Palm Swings and M.L.E. (My Little Eye), which are set for release this year.

Fieldhouse also has multiple upcoming projects in the works for 2015, including two features that will take her to Costa Rica and Nova Scotia. While she has undoubtedly reached an incredible level of success her true motivation extends beyond making films that solely drive profits. Fieldhouse sees film as a means for bringing people together in a mutual space of learning, one that offers viewers an experience where they can expand their world views and understand other cultures.
