Denise Tyrrell, the spokeswoman for Metrolink, the Los Angeles commuter rail line that suffered a devastating crash last week, has resigned after prematurely blaming the crash on an engineer’s error.
In the uproar surrounding the Metrolink rail crash on Friday, September 12, Denise Tyrrell prematurely issued a statement that said the crash was caused by an engineer running a red light. Apparently, she was authorized by Metrolink’s CEO and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), but the NTSB later went on to say that the information was not correct.
In a statement she released yesterday, Denise Tyrrell said that her resignation comes after a closed-door Metrolink board meeting. Some think that she was offered this option by board members who wanted her to leave the company after the public relations snafu.
