Hormonal and Biological Imbalances Will Cause Depression.
Depression is the number one Internet health related search item and lack of oxygen at the cellular level will cause depression.
Many times, depression can have its roots in biological and hormonal problems. When these are out of balance, our entire life can be turned upside down. The standard medical treatments are drugs, which can pose problems of their own. There are some simple changes that can be made that may alleviate the problem. Don’t dismiss them because they’re not hi-tech or trendy. Simple is the answer for many things.
During the mid-late 80’s, researchers found if the percentage of water in the body was low, hemoglobin would not absorb sufficient oxygen when it passes through the lungs. Red blood cells carry hemoglobin in their outer ring. Hemoglobin is basically an oxygen-lacking protein configuration: meaning oxygen has to be forced into it. Hemoglobin molecules consist of four peptide chains and the attractions between the chains keep the structure taut making it difficult for oxygen to enter. If sufficient water is available in the system, the hemoglobin relaxes and oxygen is more readily able to enter the hemoglobin protein by a factor of 100 to 1,000. In other words, you can get 100 to 1000 times more oxygen to the cellular level if sufficient water is present in the system. A lack of oxygen at the cellular level will cause depression.
The 80’s research project looked into the attraction factor for oxygen when various other substances were substituted for or mixed with water, including sugars and highly processed carbohydrates. The simplified findings of a complicated research paper are: the type of solution didn’t matter, nothing worked as well as plain water, including electrolyte replacement drinks. The concentration of the solution did make a difference. The more concentrated the mixed solution was and the more the water was diluted with other substances, the more difficult it was for the hemoglobin to "grab" the water molecule. Since the hemoglobin structure remained taut because it contained less water, it was more difficult for the oxygen molecule to enter the hemoglobin. What the research means to those of us trying to stay healthy is, the more we substitute any form of liquid for plain old water, the more we promote an
atmosphere that’s friendly to aging, disease, bacteria and viruses.
