Despite an abysmal human rights record and concerns over the funding of terrorism worldwide the US military affirms support of Saudi Arabia

Saudi religious police beat a man with canes in public flogging.

On March 20, 2014 Pentagon Press Secretary Admiral John Kirby gave the following comments regarding a meeting between Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel and Saudi Arabian prince Salman bin Sultan.

“The secretary met with his Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Sultan, Saudi Arabia’s vice minister of defense.  The two leaders reaffirmed the strength of the U.S.-Saudi relationship with Secretary Hagel emphasizing the commitment of the United States to security in the region.”

“They also discussed regional challenges and the importance of regional cooperation in addressing common security issues”, said Admiral John Kirby (source: DOD http://www.defense.gov/).

We contacted the Pentagon which refused to address issues relating to Saudi Arabia’s human rights abuses and support of terrorism in place like Afghanistan and Pakistan – where US soldiers are being killed and attacked on a daily basis.

It should be noted that Saudi Arabia record on human rights is absolutely abysmal.

Why the US military would continue to support such an ruthless and brutal monarchy is a abject mystery. We also contacted the White House Press office which also refused to comment in this matter, saying only that “Saudi Arabia is and remains a close ally of the United States”?

See Human Rights Watch report: http://www.hrw.org/middle-eastn-africa/saudi-arabia).

These abuses of human rights are so bad that you wonder how the United States can allow advanced weapons sales to that brutal monarchy., especially advanced fighter planes like the F-16?
