Jammu, December 15 (Scoop News) –In tune with the Government’s commitment to provide better services, at par with towns and cities, to the people of remote and backward areas, the Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs Abdul Rahim Rather today inaugurated a Government Treasury at Manjakote, Rajouri raising the total number of Government Treasuries to 57 in Jammu province and 8th in district Rajouri.
Opening of Treasury at Manjakote, was a long pending demand of the people which has been fulfilled by the government with the approval of the Cabinet.
The Minister of State for Power and CA&PD, Shabir Ahmad Khan was also present on the occasion.
The function among others was attended by the District Development Commissioner, Rajouri Swagat Bishwas, Director General Accounts and Treasuries, Ravi Mangotra, Joint Director (A&T) Mohammad Aslam and concerned officers.
Speaking to a public gathering, after inauguration of the treasury, Rather reiterated Government’s resolve to provide all the basic amenities to the people with focus on remote and backward areas. He said special attention has been given to development of border areas while formulating states planning process. He said it is for the first time in the history of the state, when special grants have been earmarked in budget for the development of the state.
Rather said opening of the government treasury at Manjakote will remove hardships of the people including employees, pensioners, widows and handicapped persons who had to travel long distances till now to clear their bills and pension claims.
Asking people to strengthened the coalition government Rather cautioned them about the mechanizations of the opposition especially PDP, which, he said is not sincere towards the people of the state. He said it was due to concerted efforts of the present dispensation that the state returned to peace after 20 years of long turmoil. “But defeated politicians are not happy with the landmark achievements of the government and have launched false propaganda campaign to hood wink public opinion’, he added.
Referring to the demands of the people about tehsils and sub-district hospitals in Manjaklote, Rather assured that the announcements of the Chief Minister in this regard will be fulfilled.
Speaking on the occasion, Shabir Ahmad Khan appreciated the Centre for giving liberal financial assistance to the state adding that coalition partners are working in tandem to utilize funds judiciously to bring faster development and prosperity in the state. He said that government will explore all possibilities to launch special police recruitment drive in Manjakote, Thanna Mandi and Darhal. He thanked the panchs and sarpanchs for casting their votes in favour of the coalition candidates. He asked panchs and sarpanchs to keep close liaison with the people and try to come up to their expectations.
