Srinagar,July 18 (Scoop News) -. In order to attract a good number of domestic as well as outside tourists to enjoy the natural beauty and grandeur.of South Kashmir Minister for Education and Public Enterprises Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed has directed the Chief Executive Officer, Kokernag Development Authority to conducted a survey of Chohar Nag, Margan Top, possessing vast unexploited tourist potential and submit a Detailed Project Report (DPR) so that funds could be arranged for creation of tourism related infrastructure in these areas and promote as new tourist destinations. He urged for wide range publicity through all available resources. This was stated by the Minister during his extensive tour of Chohar Nag, Margantop and other areas conducted along with a team of officers from Kokernag Development Authority (KDA), Irrigation, Flood Control, PHE and Revenue departments.
The Minister discussed in detail the ways and measures for creation of accommodation in the form of huts, viewing decks, walkways and pony tracks at these areas. He said that integrated development of these scenic spots, a well planned strategy needs to be adopted so that the tourists visiting the valley could be diverted to these areas. Exploitation of Chohar Nag and Margan Top would not only help to enhance the tourist flow but will also give a flip to the local economy by generating livelihood to the locals, the Minister added.
The Minister was informed that an amount of Rs. 5 lakh would be spent in the first instance for development of infrastructure of this tourist destination in the state plan of the KDA during the current financial year.
Interacting with the people, the Minister announced Rs.15 lakh for construction of khul at Margantop out of his Constituency Development Fund and directed the concerned to start work so that local people are benefitted. He said on completion of this Khul a long pending demand of the people of Breng constituency would be fulfilled. He said the Centre government is proving liberal funding for the overall development of the State and directed the concerned officers to use funds judiciously and involve local people while formulating any project in future as the people are the real source.
