Doda/Jammu, May 14 (Scoop News) –Director General of Police (DGP), Ashok Prasad today underscored the need for stepping up the relief works in the earth quake hit areas. He asked to work in coordination with the civil administration to minimise the miseries of the sufferers.
Prasad was addressing the maiden Police Durbar of jawans and officers of district Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar at Distrrict Police Lines Doda. He urged the jawans that their motto should be to serve and provide better police service to the public at all levels which could bring about a positive change in the public perception about the force.
Appreciating the role of JKP in the quake hit areas; the DGP said that the force has demonstrated great valour and courage in providing rescue and relief to the people in these areas. He said that the force deems it a human responsibility to come to the rescue of the people during the calamities and has always remained on forefront in coordination with the civil administration to save life and property of the people.
DGP said that police has the primary role to safeguard the people in all situations and have to work with more dedication particularly in the times of calamities. He stressed for more transparency in the day-to-day functioning of police, saying that the force has faced tough situations with fortitude to bring peace and order in the state and ensured dignity and honour of common masses.
On the occasion, the DGP distributed rewards among the jawans and officers of the three districts, who exhibited courage and valour in different operations and saved life and property of the people in these districts. He asked the cops to strengthen their bonds with the public and achieve the desired results in their fight against evils.
Responding to the problems highlighted during the durbar, the DGP assured that these would be looked into for appropriate action. He asked the senior officers present in the durbar to maintain coordination among the ranks and work for the betterment of the society.
Later the DGP inspected some ongoing construction works at Doda and stressed upon the executing agency to complete the works within the stipulated period. He also visited the youth club and was apprised by IGP Jammu Rajesh Kumar about the activities being carried out in the club for the welfare of youth.
During the visit DGP was accompanied by DIG DKR Ashkoor Ahmad Wani, SSsP Deepak Kumar Salathia, Varinder Sharma, Anil Kumar Magotra, Kulbeer Singh and Mohammad Arif Rishu, and other senior police officers.
