On page 41 of a recently declassified (“Secret”) Federal Bureau of Investigation report indicates an interview with someone (name deleted) who said he knew Steve Jobs.
MARIJUANA AND LSD
This un-named individual told FBI investigators that “he knew Steve Jobs used illegal drugs including Marijuana and LSD (aka: “Acid”).”
This person said Steve Jobs admitted this and that this information was confirmed via “mutual friends”. This person later stated on page 42 something rather interesting when you think about it: “He (Steve Jobs) is not a friend but does possess the qualities (in his opinion) to assume high level political appointment. It was his opinion (blacked out) that honesty and integrity were not required qualities to hold such a position…(blacked out) recommended him for a position of trust and confidence with the Government.”
EXPERIMENTED WITH ILLEGAL DRUGS
On page 44, the FBI interviewed a female who said: “she and the Appointee (Steve Jobs) experimented with various drugs ..”
SHALLOW AND CALLOUS INDIVIDUAL
In terms of character this interviewee said he was a visionary and charismatic individual, who was at times was shallow and callous …” His personal life was “lacking” due to narcissism and shallowness…
On page 45, this person says: “His success at Apple which provided an enormous amount of power for the Appointee, also caused him to lose sight of honesty and integrity and even caused him to distort the truth at times to get his way. She concluded by saying “despite the Appointee’s faults, she believes him to be extremely bright and competent individual who would serve well in a position of trust and confidence by his sense of vision…”
This interview was conducted on March 26, 1991, in Palo Alto, California (File number: 161B-HQ- 23908).
It should be remembered that Steve Jobs was being considered for a Presidential Appointment at the time.
In all the FBI interviewed some 29 people in connection with their investigation of him (pg 45).
It’s interesting that the FBI should seek to declassify the document at this time. According to paperwork as part of the document it was set to be declassified on Dec 12, 2036.
“It is a revealing look at how the FBI conducts such investigations, and what people who actually knew Steve Jobs said about him in terms of his character and personality. It’s interesting that the FBI would declassify this document as it reveals things Steve Job’s family and friends would rather not be public at this time” said Steve Calhoun of Charlotte, a privacy consultant.
“I have been hearing media reports on this but to see some of the documents is rather scary. Especially when you consider how the FBI investigates people. I should think twice is I was offered a Presidential Appointment because of how the FBI conducts itself and snoops into ones background, as well how they can reveal the results of that investigation afterward”, said Stanley Hill of Charlotte, a retired school teacher who is doing a book on Steve Jobs.
“The FBI goes overboard on these kind of investigations. I would suggest nobody agree to FBI background investigations – it’s just not worth it”, says Paul Miner of Charlotte. “Why would they reveal this now the poor guy is dead and done more to help the world than anyone in the FBI ever could. If you want a reason to mistrust the government – this report is it”, he said.
“I think it’s kinda cool Steve Jobs smoked pot. So did President Bush and he got to be President, but nobody said anything about that”, said Barry Donaldson of Charlotte. “Nobody in this world is perfect, lest of all the FBI” he said.
On that note we end this report.
