Did you know that MIOT International conducts weekly camps in Kolkata?

The Kolkata Consultation Camp was initiated almost four years ago on 10 January 2011. Our founder, Prof. Dr. P. V. A. Mohandas, conducted the pilot health camp in orthopaedics on 15 – 16 January 2011 and, since then, the camps have been held every weekend.

How do the Kolkata consultation camps work

All major specialties are covered in these camps by rotation and/or on-demand, based on the number and kind of appointments fixed. The MIOT International Health Camp includes specialties such as orthopaedics, adult-cardiology, nephrology, diabetology and endocrinology, dermatology and neurosurgery, besides screening for children’s birth-defects, gastrointestinal and liver diseases, etc. Orthopaedics handles the camp on the first Sunday of every month, and other specialities come in on the following Saturdays thereafter. The schedule for the next month’s camps is finalised by the last week of the current month.

Who coordinates these camps

The Kolkata Consultation Camps are organised and managed at the Kolkata Information Centre on Shakespeare Sarani. Details about the camp are advertised in the media and through executives at the Centre where appointments are fixed through phone or email or a direct visit. Our executives also use the existing database to make follow-up calls to patients to come in for reviews. MIOT patients too call for review appointments or information.

What happens at a camp

Patients coming in for a consultation with our doctors are counselled and advised regarding treatment. Should they need any major surgery or treatment, and care that require admission in the hospital, they are directed to MIOT International in Chennai.

 The rationale

MIOT International is a Chennai-based hospital that attracts patients and enquiries from across India and all over the world. Our aim is to reach out and take the MIOT expertise to people in need of medical diagnoses and treatment. Patients living in Kolkata and its surrounding areas find it convenient to have the Kolkata Consultation Camp as it is a facility closer to home and, of course, because they are receiving expert medical advice from MIOT’s specialists.

We’ve been receiving requests to set up such information centres and camps at various other locations in the state. Surely this attests to the success of the Kolkata Consultation Camp.
