“Diplomatic offensive can revive game”

"It is useless blaming PCB for losing Champions Trophy. The perception about security situation in Pakistan in western countries is not good. That is why they are reluctant to come to this country," Khan said while reacting to ICC’s decision to relocate Champions Trophy from Pakistan," said Former chairman of PCB, Shaharyar Khan.

"I don’t know how well the board was prepared but things have not been easy for Pakistan cricket for sometime now. convincing foreign teams to play here has been a problem," he added.

"Teams like England, Australia and South Africa will not tour Pakistan until they are told to do so by their governments and we have to convince their governments it is safe to play cricket in Pakistan, which it is," said Khan.

"I had sent a letter to the ICC suggesting formation of a special committee of former players, administrators and umpires to give a decision on the outcome of the Oval Test. But no one paid heed to it. The ICC had acted in haste throughout this episode. There was haste in sidelining umpire Darrell Hair, there was haste in reinstating him, there was haste in reversing the result from a forfeited win for England to a draw," he said.

"What the ICC needed to look at was the real cause of the problem, the charge of ball tampering against Pakistan and in that case the adjudicator, Ranjan Madugalle had cleared our team and that should have formed the entire crux of the Oval Test controversy," he added.
