Welfare activists of Geology and Mining are aghast over the decimal
functioning of directorate and had been wandering pillar to post to
get heed to save the prestigious department. But all invain, as
despite approaching and appraising misdeeds and misappropriations by
incumbent Director, F A Khan, no one including Minister of State I&C,
Chief Vigilance Commissioner, Financial Commissioner I&C,
Commissioner-Secretary GAD and Incharge CBI.
Geology and Mining J&K was established with the objective to explore
the mineral wealth and underground resources a hidden treasure of the
State. Since it has been able to identify and establish various
important mineral deposits like Limestone, Gypsum, Bauxite, Magnesite,
Dolomite, Quartzite, Borax, Fuel Minerals like Coal, Lignite,
decorative/building stones like Granite, Marble, Slate, Bauxite, China
clay, Bentonite and Gemstone like Sapphire, Garnet, Tourmaline etc.
Welfare activists have claimed in written representation that a simple
graduate mining engineer was promoted in violation of set norms as
Director. They claim that despite highlighting his disappropriation
assets no action was taken against highly corrupt Director. They
informed that Director managed to get promoted with the help of
political connections and was under a design of eye wash attached in
the month of August vide order No: 177-IND of 2014 dated 22-06-2014.
Expressing anguish over the irresponsible attitude adopted by higher
authorities in teaching lesson to dishonest Khan, activists claimed
that the virus of corruption has been infesting through F A Khan to
one and all in the department. They asked as to why was Khan attached
and then again posted as Director of the same department in same
capacity.
Activists ask that there were hundreds of Mine Surveyors who had been
languishing in the department but what made it for F A Khan who got
promotion after promotion by becoming assistant mining engineer, then
miniging engineer and continued with same pace till he became Director
and multimillionaire within a short span of time.
Giving details they said that to save the department, which has been
almost looted by Director F A Khan for his personal gains, have pasted
banners and stickers upon the walls of office premises to make his
consciousness awaken but of no use. They claim that F A Khan instead
continued to amass wealth and palatial bungalows’ every where.
