Leaders of the Dir Grand Qaumi jirga have announced that people of both the districts, Dir Lower and Dir Upper would ban entry of all the ministers and lawmakers hailing from the area if they remained absent from the all parties’ meeting to be held on Tuesday.
They made this announcement during a news conference here at Timergara Press Club which was addressed by jirga leaders including Malik Behram Khan, Malik Muhammad Zeb, Haji Muhammad Rasool Khan, Bacha Muhammad, Sultan Yousaf and nazim Noor Muhammad.
They claimed that invitation had been given to all the lawmakers and ministers hailing from Dir Lower and Upper and their parties had also been asked to attend the all parties’ meeting.
It’s very important meeting because future line of action and a strategy would be worked out as how to deal with militants and criminals active in the area, the added.
“The administration and police in both the districts have badly failed to over come the problem being faced by locals and now the time is quite rife for the people to decide their fate,” Malik Behram, an influential tribal elder and former MPA remarked on the occasion.
They urged the government to appoint suitable ‘Qazis’ being fully empowered to decide disputes in the light of Islamic sharia, set up an appellate court as soon as possible, take practical steps to recover all the kidnapped persons in the area and pay compensation to victim families of kidnapping for ransom.
They pointed out that several important decisions would be taken in the meeting and if the authorities failed to meet their demands till that time, a big protest rally would be held at Timergara on April, 16.
