Director General Border Roads visits to Project SAMPARK

   Jammu, October 5 (Scoop News) –Lieutenant  General S. Ravi Shankar, Vishisth Sena Medal, Director General Border Roads is on visit  to Project SAMPARK from 4th Oct  to 05th Oct 2011.

    The Director General visited the prestigious work of construction of Basohli Bridge.  The 592 metre cable stayed bridge will be built by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) at a cost of Rs145 Cr and is scheduled to be constructed by July 2014. This bridge will be the first such bridge in entire Northern India and only the third of its kind in India after Hooghly and Mumbai bridges.  It will open up an alternative route to National Highway 1A and to the Kashmir Valley via Basohli, Bani. Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, Chhatroo and Anantnag areas. The Director General expressed his satisfaction on the progress of the work and reiterated the commitment of Border Roads Organization in completion of the bridge before time.

    Project SAMPARK is committed to the construction, improvement and maintenance of strategic road network of border districts of Jammu & Kashmir, south of Pir Panjal Range and plays a vital role in the socio-economic development of the region.

    The Director General also inspected the maintenance works under taken by Project SAMPARK at Kachrial –Thakochak DCB.
