Public officials in the country are looking forward to a discussion on the payment of an honorarium in place of a bonus which are not given this year. With the Twelfth General Election just around the corner they have every reason to be smiling.
The Secretary General of CEUPACS [Associaion Of Public workers Congress] Mr Omar Osman said in Kuala Lumpur recently. The Prime Minister have initially referred the discussion the chief Secretary, Datuk Sidek Hassan.
As the Chief Secretary is now still in Mecca after performing the Hajj, the discussion will take place when he assumed his duties once more.
Mr Omar Osman told the press that CEUPACS is asking for a sum pf RM2,000. Most public officials are affected by the flood and the roller-coaster movement of essential goods. This amount is just enough to buffer up the financial health of most public officials.
Another agenda on the table for the oncoming discussion with the Chief secretary is the extension of the retirement age from fifity-six to sixty years. Mr Omar told the press that most public officials at the age of fifty-six are still very active and can still produce more up to the age of sixty.
Mr Omar said that the Competency Level Eaxamination should be postponed since many public workers did not have time to prepare themselves due to the flood.
