Jammu, March 5 (Scoop News) – Speaking on the motion of thanks on Governor’s Address Muzaffar Hussain Baig described Article 370 as a bridge between Centre and the State. He said the BJP members who are creating hue and cry to abolish the article 370 from the Indian Constitution are totally ignorant of the legalities of the issue and are misleading the people. He said the provision existed in the State much before independence.
He said the President of India can abrogate the article 370 only on the recommendations of the constituent assembly of the State which no more existed, meaning the act can’t be scrapped. He said both National Conference and PDP have given their formulations about Kashmir and invited others to come up with their thoughts in line with public aspirations rather than dubbing people as fundamentalists.
On the remarks passed by a BJP legislator a few days back in the House, Baig said Islam is a symbol of love, peace and brotherhood and teaches respect to other religions. He said Islam has nothing to do with violence and every right thinking person condemned the act of violence in any form.
He said that India is a multi religious country and everybody has equal rights to live according to their faith.
