Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir chairing a meeting
Srinagar, November 25(Scoop News)- Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Shailendra Kumar accompanied by senior civil and police officers inspected Makhdoom Sahib (RA) Ropeway Project constructed at a cost of Rs. 6.50 crore and took stock of the arrangements made for inauguration of the project in the first week of December this year. He had a test ride of the project so that the enthusiastic persons would be safe and jolly to enjoy the ride after its inauguration.
Later, addressing an officers meeting on the site, Divisional Commissioner said that the project is a unit of J&K State Cable Car Corporation, spread at a length of 594 metres and at a height of 53 metres. He said that the ride takes four minutes to complete and 16 persons can travel at a time.
The meeting was attended by Inspector General of Police Kashmir, Chief Engineer, Mechanical Engineering Department Kashmir, Director Tourism Kashmir, Managing Director J&K Cable Car Corporation, Superintendent of Police Srinagar, Superintendent of Police Traffic, General Manager Cable Car Corporation, Secretary Waqf Board, Joint Director Information Kashmir and Joint Commissioner SMC.
The meeting discussed various issues related to the commissioning of the project which include parking facility for the visitors besides safety and security measures which need to be taken soon after its inauguration.
Divisional Commissioner was informed that a big piece of land is available in the vicinity of the project which later was inspected by the dignitaries.
Divisional Commissioner directed the Managing Director Cable Car Corporation to develop the piece of land for making it fit for parking lot and asked him to start the work immediately.
Divisional Commissioner and other officers paid obeisance at the Ziyarat Makhdoom Sahib (RA) and prayed for prosperity of the State.
Later, Divisional Commissioner went round Interpretation Centre and inspected the manuscripts of various Mughal rulers and studied the history of Mughal period.
The Director Tourism apprised the Div Com about Naagar Nagar Heritage Conservation Project and said that an amount of Rs. 38 crore is being spent on renovation and repairs of Hari Parbat Wall, Eco Park, Monument, Dara Shikva Hamam and Zakir Masjid.
