Jammu, June 1 (Scoop News) –Divisional Commissioner Jammu Pardeep Gupta today reviewed arrangements for the smooth conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2013 scheduled to commence from June 28, at a high level meeting of officers and representatives of civil society.
The Divisional Commissioner discussed various matters with the Civil and Police administration and also sought suggestions from the civil society members to ensure timely and fool proof arrangements for the annual pilgrimage to South Kashmir cave shrine.
The meeting discussed various aspects of the Yatra including, commencement of Yatra, Online Registration, Accommodation/transport for Sadhus, Entry/toll Tax for buses/trucks at Lakhanpur, installation of hoarding/banners, lodging facilities in Jammu province, transportation , security arrangements, fixing of signboard by PWD, establishment of Communication Centres , medical facility, sanitation/cleanliness, provision for mobile toilet vans, traffic regulation arrangements and opening of tourist Information Centre.
The Divisional Commissioner exhorted upon the concerned departments to strictly follow the Supreme Court guidelines, while making arrangements and registration for the Yatra.
He said that no person below the age of 13 and above 75 year shall be registered for Yatra as directed by the Apex Court, while those registered shall have the Health Fitness Certificate issued by the competent authority.
The Div Com directed for constituting special squads for checking overcharging and quality of goods and eatables during the Yatra.
He welcomed the discount of 20 percent offered by the owners of Hotels, restaurants and Lodges for the Yatries.
The meeting was informed that 2.10 lakh Yatra registrations have been made for the Yatra across the country so far.
The Div Com asked the director tourism to ensure completion of facelift work at Yatri Niwas Bhagwati Nagar by June 10.
Divisional Commissioner emphasized upon the officers to work with coordination and enthusiasm to put in place all the arrangements upto June 10, 2013. He directed the Deputy Commissioners of all enroute districts to make elaborate arrangements to accommodate the Yatries in case of emergency, including blocking of road or inclement weather condition.
Among others, Inspector General of Police Rajesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Ajeet Kumar Sahu, DC Kathua Jitendra Kr. Singh, DC Ramban Shyam Vinod Meena, DC Samba Rajinder K. Varma, DC Udhampur Yasha Mudgal, Chief Engineer M&RE Shahnaz Goni, CE PHE K. K. Gupta, IGP CRPF Kuldeep Dhar,Director Tourism Soujanya Sharma, Joint Director Information Smita Sethi, DIG Jammu Shakeel Ahmed, DIG CRPF Narinder Singh, General Manager SRTC R. S. Jamwal besides senior officers of Police, CRPF, district administration and representatives of civil society participated in the meeting.
