Srinagar, February 27 (Scoop News) – Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir has issued an avalanche warning from February 27 to 28, 2013 in view of expected moderate to heavy snowfall in snow bound areas of Kashmir Valley.
People living in these areas like Nowgam, Chowkibal, Budnambal, Karnah, Keran, Jumagand, Kenthawali, Machil and Lashdat have been advised not to venture into steep avalanche-prone slopes during the said period and remove snow from roof tops of their houses to avoid any causality due to house collapse.
Meanwhile, according to the Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, in view of inclement weather, no vehicular traffic is allowed from Karnah to Kupwara, Keran to Kupwara and Machil to Kupwara till improvement of weather and clearance of roads.
Pertinently, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Gurez, M.A. Hakak has also asked the people of Koregbal, Nayil, Khandyal, Chorvan, Khobri and Tulail villages to restrict their movement and not to venture into avalanche prone areas.
Meanwhile, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate along with Tehsildar and SHO Gurez inspected the site in Markote village where a house was damaged due to a fire incident on 25th of this month and provided tin sheets, bedding, kitchen set and 3 months free ration to the affected family as immediate relief.
