Div Com reviews arrangements for upcoming Jammu festival

Jammu November 27(Scoop News)- To discuss the arrangements for ensuing Jammu festival commencing from December 25 to 30, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Shantmanu convened a meeting of senior officers and members of Jammu Festival Celebration Committee and representatives of religious and social organizations, here today.
The festival is being organized by the Tourism Department who would provide all the logistic arrangements and is making special arrangements for the upcoming Jammu festival to attract the tourists within and outside the state.
The Meeting was attended by Director General, Youth Services and Sports, Naveen Aggarwal, DIG, Jammu, Shakeel Ahmed Beig, Vice Chairman, JDA, K.L. Khajuria, Director Tourism, Soujanya Sharma, Joint Director Information Jammu, Smita Sethi, Additional Secretary JKAACL, Savita Bakshi, senior officers of PHE, PDD, R&B, Municipality, R&B, Health, Education, Industries and Commerce besides Chairman, Praytan Vikas Mandal, Ravi Mahajan, President United Hotel and Restaurant Association, Ashaq Hussain, President Hotel and Restaurant Association, Inderjeet Khajuria, President Raghunath Bazar Association, Baldev Khullar.
Speaking on the occasion, the Divisional Commissioner said that such events would be organized to showcase the unique cultural ethos of Jammu besides promoting tourism in the state. He informed that different stall holders would display their commodities to showcase indigenous culture and art of J&K state having worldwide reorganization. He stressed for massive involvement of public especially eminent personalities of the region as it is the festival of people.
In order to give festive look to the city of temples, all the bazzars, important government buildings and rotaries would be illuminated by different bazaar/business associations, Municipality etc, Divisional Commissioner maintained.
The meeting informed that different cultural events would be presented by legends like Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma, Ms. Abida Parveen from Pakistan on 25th and 26th of December, 2013 at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu and by Gurdass Mann, Mater Anmol, Pyush Bhagat, Tania Gupta and Dr. Radhika Chopra besides other performers at Dushera Ground Gandhi Nagar on 29th and 30th December, 2013 respectively.
Sufiana programme by Watali Brother/Sabri Brothers, Duggar Folk/dance besides Maha Raaslila depicting life of Lord Krishna, cultural procession illustrating rich Dogra Heritage and Culture, InterCollege level declamation, heritage Walk, ethnic food stalls, nukad shows would be other major attractions of the festival, the meeting told.
Shantmanu directed the JMC to ensure sanitation in and around Jammu city and at all venues and install sufficient number of dustbins at different locations in addition to mobile toilets. While PHE department was asked to provide water tankers at the main venues with temporary taps for the convenience of the visitors. He also instructed PDD to ensure proper lighting arrangements in addition to un-interrupted power supply throughout festival days. He enjoined upon the concerned departments to make available adequate security and traffic regulation arrangements. He asked Director School Education to ensure participation of school children both from government and private educational institutions for the run for Jammu.
Similarly, Health authorities were directed to provide ambulances stationed at venues with sufficient staff and medicines, JKDTC will provide vehicles for transportation of artists besides setting up of ethnic food stalls. Song and Drama Division, (GOI) was asked to provide cultural troops along with light and sound system, fire services department was asked to ensure availability of Fire Tenders at different venues to meet any eventuality.
