Srinagar,December 21, (Scoop News)- Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Shailendra Kumar, Saturday directed the divisional level officers to ensure full preparedness for snowfall expected in the ensuing winter season besides gearing up men and machinery for providing all basic necessities to the people of the valley.
Kumar was addressing a high level officers meeting held here today to review the arrangements made by the divisional administration to meet any eventuality with regard to snowfall in the valley.
The meeting was attended by District Development Commissioners of Srinagar and Anantnag, Chief Engineers of PHE, PWD, PDD, Director Health Services, Kashmir, DIG Traffic, Joint Director CA&PD, Joint Commissioner, SMC, Joint Director Fire and Emergency Services, representatives of BEACON, Oil Companies and district officers of the valley.
The Divisional Commissioner directed the Beacon authorities to keep ready the snow clearance machines to clear the snow from National Highway and other major roads of the valley so that the traffic movement is not interrupted. The SMC authorities were directed to ensure snow clearances of all the lanes and by lanes of the city. Similarly, the representatives of Oil Companies were asked to stock LPG, Petrol and Diesel in the godowns of various districts of valley so that the consumers do not face any difficulty in obtaining these commodities.
The authorities of Health department were asked to ensure heating arrangements in all the hospitals and health institutions for both indoor and outdoor patients and attendants. The
The officers present in the meeting assured the Divisional Commissioner that all the steps are being taken to provide people all the facilities in respect of essential commodities as well as civic amenities.
