Udhampur,November 24, (Scoop News)-For the smooth conduct of Assembly Election 2014, the election preparedness meeting was reviewed by Divisional Commissioner Shantmanu at DC office complex here today. He was accompanied by IGP, Jammu Rajesh Kumar.
The threadbare discussions were held on Security Plan, deployment of zonal/ sectoral officers and polling parties, transport plan, number of Model Polling Stations, strong rooms security , preparation of EVMs, BMF status at polling station, arrangements of vehicles for Zonal Magistrates and sectoral Magistrates, dispatch centre & receiving centre arrangements, food and civic amenities, health care, transportation, media allowance, payments etc.
The Divisional Commissioner directed all the concerned officers that no loopholes should be left, strict monitoring of MCC violations and follow MCC guidelines of ECI. He said that while issuing EVMs to the polling parties, reserve EVMs should be given to them so that the polling process would not hinder. He further directed all the concerned officers to be vigilant and report immediately to your higher officers if any complaint of non functioning of EVMs would be received during first two to three hours of the start of polling , as these are very crucial. He further said that to be neutral to all the polling parties and agents. He also instructed RO’s to dispatch the polling parties to far off polling station earlier in time than the others.
Earlier, District Election Officer Yasha Mudgal briefed him about all the arrangements which were taken in Udhampur district for the smooth conduct of free and fair Assembly elections 2014. She also informed him about the reserved EVMs with micro- observers, number of nodal officers appointed for election, total EPIC’s issued , model polling stations, polling official preparations, polling personal status, sensitive polling stations, EVM preparedness, FLC ,dispatch and receipt of EVM’s, Communication Plan etc.
Inspector General Police Jammu, Rajesh Kumar also gave directions to all the police officers to be vigilant at all the nakas and don’t allow any suspicious person , to enter into the district, who can disturb polling process on the polling day. He also suggested that additional buses have to be arranged before the dispatch of polling parties to their respective polling stations.
DIG Udhampur- Reasi range, Ghareeb Das, Senior Superintendent of Police, Udhampur Suleman Choudhary, IAS Probationer, Mrs Kritika Batra, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Rajeev Magotra, RO, Udhampur -60, Mr Pawan Parihar, RO, Ramnagar-62, Mr Deepraj, ARO’s, police officers and other senior officers were also present in the meeting.
