Div Com revive the historic glory of Srinagar

Srinagar, February 07  (Scoop News) – To restore the beauty, historic glory and heritage of Shar-e-Khas, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon today visited Hariparbat Fort at Naagar Nagar to review the pace of ongoing work which is coming up at an estimated cost of about Rs. 38 crore. The work on development of this mega tourist circuit from Naagar Nagar to Watlab was taken up in hand by Tourism department.

            The Divisional Commissioner was accompanied by District Development Commissioner Srinagar,  Baseer Ahmad Khan and a team of high level officers including Chief Engineer Roads and Buildings, Executive Engineer of PHE, PDD, Assistant Director Tourism department, officers of State and Central Archaeology and Forest departments.

            Dr. Samoon was informed that restoration work to the tune of Rs. 6 crore of Rampart Wall (Kalayi) around and inside the Hariparbat fort is in full swing.

            During his tour, Divisional Commissioner was apprised that a Interpretation Centre, restaurant coming up at a cost of Rs. 1.75 crore would be constructed at the entrance of Kathidarwaza. He was also told that Rs. 1.7 crore would be spent on the construction of Eco Park at Nigeen Pokhribal to restore the pristine glory of Shar-e-Khas.

            About Rs. 1.94 crore would be expended on the construction of public convenience at various places and pedestrian path from Fort to Makhdoom Sahib (RA) Shrine for the convenience of people. About Rs. 1.20 crore would be incurred on the renovation and repair works of historical monuments which are established inside the Fort.

            Dr. Samoon directed the concerned officers that fasade lighting system at Hariparbat Fort should be restored immediately.

            Later on Divisional Commissioner also reviewed the pace of ongoing work on “Sump” (Water Plant) at Pokhribal which is particularly meant for convenience of the devotees of Makhdoom Sahib (RA) Shrine.

            Dr. Samoon assured the people that the Government is taking every step to revive the historic glory of Srinagar city. He exhorted upon the officers to redouble their efforts to complete the ongoing works within the stipulated timeframe.
