Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir, India Apr 4—A rape accused demanding justice, a woman, who has just given birth to a child as a result of this heinous crime and the newly born infant, whose DNA test would be conducted in order to establish the paternity.
All these persons are part of a sordid drama enacted in the beautiful pass of Mandi in district Pooch, where a young woman was raped last year by four men but the police charged only a single man in this case, and for obvious reasons.
Under the directions of the Court, a police team headed by Dy SP Operations Sanjay Raina today went to Poonch Hospital and collected blood samples of the child, who was born on April 1 this month and the mother identified as Parveen Akhtar daughter of Mohd Akbar resident of Adai, Mandi.
This police took these samples only after huge protestations by Mohd Din, who has accused the local police of framing him after taking money from the three other persons, who were initially accused of the rape by the girl. It was in fact Mohd Din, who had demanded that DNA test be conducted to find the truth.
As per reports, Parveen Akhtar had complained to Mandi police that she had been raped by four persons namely Mohd Shabbir son of Ghulam Mohd, Roshan Din son of Abdul Malik, Mohd Iqbal son of Mohd Nazir and Mohd Din son of Khuda Baksh. The police, however, after making preliminary inquiry lodged a complaint only against Mohd Din son of Khuda Baksh and the rest of the three were not named.
The accused, Mohd Din charges that this happened because he failed to pay Rs twenty thousand as demanded by SHO, Mandi and as such he was framed in the case. “I told them that I was a poor man and I was also not involved in the incident. But the local police officials refused to listen and framed me in this case”, he told. The other three persons, he alleges paid Rs sixty thousand to the SHO through Master Mohd Mussrat Shah, also a resident of Adai.
After the court decided that a DNA test should be conducted, Mohd Din said that the said official produced Praveen Akhtar before a judge and forced her to record statement under section 164. Meanwhile, Mohd Din was all praise for the police department and senior officials, who listed to his woes and shifted the case to another official.
He said that it was only after he explained his predicament to SSP, Poonch that the case was transferred to Dy SP operations and the Court agreed that a paternity test of the child and the victim would be conducted to ascertain the truth. A visibly elated Mohd Din thanked the police and especially Dy SP operation for working overtime to solve the case.
