Do You Fear Death?

There’s not a person on earth who hasn’t questioned death because it happens to every living person or thing here on earth regardless of age, gender, race, religion or a person’s status. Death has taken many dignitaries, rulers, and the likes and will continue to do so until God calls His people home to be with Him. Death has “no” mercy no, not for a single soul.

Life is a short span here upon this earth but surely death awaits all people; and it’s nothing to dread or to fear if a person is a Christian and they’ve accepted Jesus Christ into their life. Jesus’ word tells people in several instances here in this article about death and what people must do to have an eternal life with Him in Heaven.

Death will come to all people just as it did to Jesus, He tasted death like every other person here on earth has tasted that has died and it awaits those who are living to also taste death in the future. In the New Testament and in Hebrews 2: 9, the Bible tells people, “But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor; that He by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

Do you fear death? Are you prepared for death? Will death come in the day or night? Will there be life after death? Where will death transport people to? Will people be aware they’re dead? It’s my opinion these questions maybe troubling for people but not to fear if you’re a Christian because Jesus Christ will be there waiting upon His return for His people.

In the Bible and in the New Testament in John 5: 21, 24, it tells people, “For as the Father raised up the dead, and quickened them; even so the Son quickens whom He will. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that hears my word and believes on Him that sent me, has everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. Verily, verily, I say unto you, the hour is coming, and is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.”

People die every day and if they’ve accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior they will have an eternal life thereafter and those who haven’t will be in condemnation. Death is compared to sleep numerous times in the Bible. When people go to sleep, they’re unconscious; they’re not aware of the hours clicking by or what has taken place around them; and the Bible describes death in this same way. This reminds me of an old gospel song of long ago, “My Mother’s not dead she’s only a sleeping patiently waiting for Jesus to call her home.”

It tells people in the Old Testament in Ecclesiastes 9: 5, NKJV, and in the New Testament in Psalm 146: 4; 114: 17, saying, “For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not anything, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.”

People Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead as stated in the New Testament in John 11: 11, 14, 15, “When Jesus heard that Lazarus was sick, He said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.”

Jesus spoke to the people, and said, “Our friend Lazarus sleeps; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep; and then Jesus said, “Lazarus is dead. And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent you may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.”

In the Bible in the New Testament in John 11: 17, 21, 23, 25, 39, 41, 42, 43, 44, Lazarus had lain dead in the grave for four days; and when Jesus spoke to Martha, Lazarus’ sister, He said, “Your brother will rise again.” And Jesus said unto her, “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believes in me, though he was dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Believe you this?”

Jesus told Martha to take away the stone, and she replied, “Lord, by this time he stinks: for he has been dead four days.”

The stone was removed and Jesus lifted up His eyes, and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. And I knew that you hear me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that you have sent me:” and Jesus cried in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth.”

“And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with grave clothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus said unto them, “Loose him, and let him go.”

Lazarus didn’t make any mention of what he felt when he was in the tomb and it’s my opinion it’s because Lazarus didn’t feel “anything,” he was dead but now he is alive. It’s my belief that it’s as John 11: 11, 14, 15 says, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.”

God needed to allow people to see that His Son was glorified.

The Holy Bible, King James Version, and in the New Testament in Verse 1 Cor. 15:55, 56, 57, it says, “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks to God, which gave us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Believers fear not the sting of death but by the grace of God those who believe in Him will not perish but have everlasting life – “O What a Glorious Day!”
