"Embedded system", It’s a technical term which is used very common in Electronics field. Do you know what exactly it means???? If not please take a look into this article…
An embedded system can be defined as a control system or computer system designed to perform a specific task. Most embedded systems are ‘time critical applications’ meaning that the embedded system is working in a environment where timing is very important, the results of an operation are only relevant if its is obtained in a specific time frame.
An embedded system
v Employs a combination of hardware & software (a “computational engine") to perform a specific function
v Is part of a larger system that may not be a "computer"
v Works in a reactive and time-constrained environment
v Software is used for providing features and flexibility
v Hardware is used for performance (& sometimes security)
Embedded systems nowadays represent a key area of development in information society. Systems with ‘on-board intelligence’ – a smart combination of hardware and software- are all around us, as they arise in automotive applications, in home, in advanced industrial applications.
An embedded system usually involves a micro controller with limited computation power and simplified architecture.
The main advantages of Embedded System are Low power consumption
Slimmer and more compact
Reduced design and development system
Lower system costs
