Dogri writers of national and international fame read out their creations in the Goshti which attracted the splendid applause from the audience.
Dr. Ved Kumari Ghai, a renowned Social worker and intellectual was the chief guest on the occasion while Prof. Nilamber Dev Sharma was the guest of honour.
The writers who read out their creations included Prof. Lalit Magotra, Dr. Om Goswami, Sh. Raj Rahi, Smt. Nirmal Vikram, Smt. Santosh Sangra and Smt. Sudesh Raj.
While speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest lauded the Information department for organising Dogri Khani Goshti that would go a long way in promotion of Dogri Culture and Languages as well as providing a platform to the budding poets and writers to exhibit their talent. He hoped that the department will continue holding such programmes with same spirit and zeal in future.
She highlighted the importance of organising such programes and said that people should encourage use of their regional dialects to preserve their culture. She appreciated the creations of the writers that had a great touch of our rich cultural ethos and moral values.
Joint Director Information Mr. Soujanya Sharma in his welcome address highlighted the activities of the department in promoting such programmes and said that these events are being held in every part of the state to promote culture and traditions of a particular region. He appealed the young writers and poets to vigorously participate in such programmes which will further their talent.
Among others, President Dogri Sanstha Prof. Lalit Magotra, eminent social worker Dr. Rita Jetendra, Deputy Directors Mr. Suram Chand Sharma, Mrs. Anju Gupta, Photo Officer Mr. B. D. Sharma, other prominent intellectual and cultural personalities attended the function.
In another function District Information Centre Rajouri organizes Mushaira and Cultural show in Gujjar Hospital Rajouri today in which twenty five poets participates in Mushaira.
MLC Ch. Gulzar Ahmed was the chief guest on the occasion while Dr. Sabar Miza presided over the function.
Artist of Panjal Cultural Club Darhal Rajouri enthralled the students and poets by their melodious songs. The artists of the club and the poets presented musical items in various languages including urdu, phari and Gojri. The Mushaira and cultural programme were based on national integration and communal harmony.
