RMF pops to keep ‘Promising Smile’
Newly born Ranjan Matha Foundation (RMF) distributed New Year joy to sixty low income families in Dehiwela Attidiya by stepping to its first public donation.
The donation took place at Parakum Mawatha, Attidiya ,Dehiwela where the centre of RMF on 11 April 2 days prior to the Sinhala and Tamil New Year festive begun.
RMF is established aiming to uplift status of low income families, give hands for needy children in their education or skill training, knowledge sharing and to share joy with them in especial social events where the law income cause to corner them not to celebrate and make worries for their fate as majority engage with celebrating and having parties with good and tasty food. RMF takes effort to bring smile to all. The theme of RMF is ‘Promising Smile’.
Selected sixty five families for New Year donation received a dry food package more than 800 Rs.(About 8 $) worth in market price with a attractive cloth bag which can use them again and again. A receiving family can consume it for about 2-3 days in the New Year holidays.
Receivers were selected based on those who are getting government charitable allowance just a 150-200 SL Rs for a whole month. Most are adults whose children not take care of them are receiving this government charity allowance. Some are jobless or disable or long time sick people with some inabilities to earn.
RMF learned that it will be hundreds or thousands time more needy people of such kind of bag around the area just to have joy with little difference for New Year.
With a personally received donation RMF started it first public donation to make a difference in society begin with 60 needy families and expecting to long run. First donation sponsored by a person who does not wish to his name show in public and leads a simple life for him and having joy through helping others. Whole the project has valued for 60 000 SL Rs.
RMF headed by Mrs.Ruwanthi Kariyawasam Attorney at Law and a senior journalist in Sri Lanka. Working committee for the New Year donation consists with 12 voluntary members.
RMF born and started it’s donations for the needy people on 25 December 2009 by donating a three wheel pushing cart to a law income lady who selling fish. She had been hiring the cart daily basis for paying hundred Rs. for each day. She is taking care of nine live hoods with this earning. RMF has soon established with hearing this story and she became the owner of cart with paying 4000 Rs for the old owner of the cart by RMF head. Fish monger lady got the first promising smile as a kept promise, and then 60 families have gifted smile on their faces. RMF wish to keep going forward with promising smile…
