Doodle resembling a calculator on Google India pays tribute to Shakuntala Devi or Human Computer

Google is celebrating and honoring the 84th birth anniversary of Shakuntala Devi, the human computer, with a doodle is similar to a calculator on its Indian home page. A mathematical genius, labeled as “human computer” for her ability to make complex mental math calculations in Nano seconds.  She died in Bangalore in April, 2013.
She found her name in the Guinness Book of World Record for her extraordinary talent of mental math. She has written many books including ‘Puzzles to Puzzle, ‘Fun with Numbers’, Mathablit’ and ‘Astrology for You’.

She could tell the day of the week of any exact date in the last century in a jiffy. She was born to a humble circus performer. Her   exceptional calculation abilities were noticed by her father when she was only three.

One day at the age of three she was playing cards with her father and he found that Shakuntala knocked him by recalling the playing cards. After that she displayed her calculation competences at the age of six at the University of Mysore.

She again evidenced herself   as a child genius at Annamalai University in Madras when she was eight years old.

Shakuntala Devi`s calculating ability grew with her age. She astounded the world when in 1977; she extracted the 23rd root of a 201-digit number by her mental math.

She displayed the multiplication of two 13-digit numbers 7,686,369,774,870 x 2,465,099,745,779 chosen at random by the Computer Department of Imperial College, London in 1980 and it took her only 28 seconds to solve the question.
