DPEC Meeting held under the Chair of DCO Chitral.
CHITRAL: Meeting of District Polio Eradication Committee was held here at District Nazim office under the chair of District Coordination Officer Chitral (DCO) Mutasib Billah Shah regarding preparation for upcoming National Immunization Days (NID) which will be started from August 19 to 21. The meeting was attended by Executive District Officers of line departments including Khateeb of Shahi Mosque; Doctors Etc. Addressing to the stake holders DCO Chitral said that we should to focus on Health and Education for a strong nation. He said that this is our moral obligatory to support health teams for eradicating polio disease from the country. He assured that all machineries of district administration are ready for provide all type of cooperation to EPI (Expanding Program for Immunization) so as to enable them to assured 100% polio vaccination. EDO health Dr. Sher Qayum said that Chitral has been declared polio free district for the last 14 years only due to cooperation of all stake holders. He said that Polio virus from one place to other.
He said that 3 Polio cases have been detected at Swat and 2 at Dir upper which is gate way to Chitral. He said that some 755 Polio cases have been confirmed in 11 countries of the world. Pakistan is on third number in polio cases where 15 cases has been traced, Nigeria on second number with 19 polio cases and India is on top in polio cases where 298 cases have been detected. Dr. Inayatullah EPI Coordinator said while briefing the DPEC Chairman DCO Chitral that we have to vaccinate 75682 children as target population. For this purpose we have detailed 231 mobile teams while 29 fixed centers and polio will be also vaccinated in 3 transit points at Arandu (Pak Afghan Border), Air port and Ashriat village gate way to Dir. He requested DCO Chitral to issue letters to all schools with the message that all students should be informed regarding importance of polio vaccine in assemblies. He appeals religious leaders to highlight polio drive in their Friday Sermons. As well as in 457 Jamat Khana by Mukkies of Ismaili community to highlight polio importance.
Maulana Khaleequz Zaman proposed for drive of cleanliness movement at Chitral as TMA not working in town area and there is many heaps of garbage. As well as food department also not checking greengrocers regularly. Poultry shops should to be separated from main market and should to shift outside of city. On this occasion DCO Chitral also announced that all Union Council Nazimeen would be informed to celebrate Independence Day at their union council as well as in all schools (private and government). He directed all line departments to support health teams while their NID duty. He said health hygiene policy will be framed to save Chitral from pollution as marine life is badly suffering from polluting water by local people. He stressed upon general public to play their role because no successes is possible without involvement of local community. All participants committed to support health teams as they working for national cause and to eradicate polio abuse from Chitral.
