Dr Darakhshan meets GOC white knight corps

 

      Jammu, October 4  (Scoop News) –Dr Darakhshan Andrabi, President Socialist Democratic Party met Lt Gen Jai Prakash Nehra, GOC 16 Corps and discussed various issues related to peace and development in J&K.  

 

      The meeting lasted nearly an hour, during which Dr Andrabi presented a memorandum to the GOC seeking assistance from the Army for social upliftment of poor strata in the remote terrorist affected areas of J&K in the areas South of Pir Panjal Range.  Dr Andrabi said that years of violence and agitation have left J&K way behind other states of India on the development index.  The state needs to be brought into the mainstream of the country to realise the fruits of economic growth taking place elsewhere in India.  

 

 

      Gen Nehra apprised Dr Andrabi about Army’s efforts in ensuring peace and security in the Jammu region, thereby providing secure environment for inclusive growth in the state.  The GOC also apprised her about various Sadbhavna activities undertaken by the Army to facilitate better education and health infrastructure in remote areas.  They also discussed the issues related to women empowerment and holistic development of the youth for better employment opportunities.  Dr Andrabi urged the Army to start  a special recruitment drive in the state.  GOC assured her to take up the matter with the appropriate authorities. 

 

 

      Dr Andrabi also appreciated the secular and apolitical nature of the Indian Army.  The GOC hoped that all peace loving forces would understand the aims of our adversaries and would join hands to scuttle their designs so that durable peace could be achieved in the state.
