Srinagar, May 20, (Scoop News)- National Conference Party President Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Working President and J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today held an extraordinary 8 hour long meeting with Provincial Leadership, Ministers, MLAs, MLCs, District Presidents and Block Presidents to seek feedback about the reasons for the recent election results and formulate a future course of action.
The closed-door meeting saw all District Presidents, District Secretaries and Block Presidents speak both about the local factors in their delegated areas as well as the general organizational and political factors in view of the recent Lok Sabha election results.
Dr. Farooq Abdullah spoke to the organizational office bearers and assured them that National Conference would bounce back with passion to come up to the expectations of the common masses. Dr. Farooq Abdullah expressed great hope and optimism in the party’s strength and ability to overcome the recent debacle in a spectacular manner. Dr. Farooq Abdullah announced that the party leadership would launch a comprehensive set of organizational measures and mechanisms to constantly seek suggestions and alleviate the grievances of the party cadre and office-bearers. In this connection it was announced that the Party President will be present at the NC Headquarters in Srinagar two days a week to meet party workers and office bearers.
Party Working President and J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah sat through the entire meeting for eight hours and spoke at the end after patiently listening to each District President, District Secretary and all 92 Block Presidents and acknowledging and personally noting down the points that were raised. Omar Abdullah said that drastic corrective measures would be taken to bring the organization closer to the party cadres and the common masses to evolve ways and means to engage with the people and involve them in governance related issues and their requisite solutions.
Omar Abdullah said that he doesn’t believe in melodrama and theatrics and would work day and night to herald a resolute comeback for National Conference in the forthcoming Assembly Elections. Speaking about various issues that have hurt the sentiments of the people and especially the youth of J&K, Omar Abdullah said that he unconditionally accepted the message of the people especially the youth and would leave no stone un-turned to ensure that the government takes every single measure necessary to address and alleviate the grievances of the youth of the State.
Omar Abdullah said that he as a human-being and a proud Kashmiri accepted and agreed that there were some genuine grievances of the people and he would work tirelessly as a soldier of the people to ensure that the trust and faith that was reposed in him and in National Conference would be upheld and done justice with. Omar Abdullah said that the 2002 loss in the Assembly Elections helped the party to gain insights into areas that needed improvement and the party came to power in 2008 after effectively rectifying those issues. Drawing a comparison of the 2002 verdict with the recent Lok Sabha Election results, Omar Abdullah said that he was confident that the party would script yet another historic comeback in the 2014 Assembly Elections with the blessings and support of the people of this State and the efforts and hard-work of the party workers.
Laying emphasis on the need to address the hurt sentiments and grievances of the youth, Omar Abdullah told the party office-bearers and workers that he would take the youth on-board to evolve solutions to every single problem that they have highlighted personally to him by reaching out in the last few days in close to two thousand emails. Omar Abdullah also thanked senior party workers and elders for their selfless sacrifices and dedicated efforts especially in the recent Lok Sabha Elections and asked them to continue guiding him and the party to greater heights and help him in serving the people with sincerity and passion.
