Srinagar, December 21- Dr. Farooq Abdullah former Chief Minster and Patron National Conference said, if voted to power, his party will provide more teeth to the J&K State Accountability Commission to investigate the cases of corruption and whosoever found involved right from a mere peon to the Chief Minister, would be booked and punished.
Addressing a series of election meetings and road shows at Mulphak, Danihama, Batpora Khawaja Bagh, Telbal in Hazratbal assembly constituency in Srinagar on Saturday Farooq said, the State Accountability Commission, which was setup by the PDP led coalition government with much hype was also forced to close after twenty-two ministers of coalition government were charged with demanding and accepting illegal gratification.
He said after the names of the PDP-Congress coalition ministers surfaced in the infamous sex scandal, the cases were hushed up without going into proper investigation, he said adding that while the investigation was stalled by the then coalition regime, the victims were left at the mercy of God.
Dr Abdullah said PDP government indulged in divisive politics and tried to divide the people of the state on regional, religious, caste and ethnic basis for vote bank politics thereby destroying the traditional secular fabric of the state. He assured that his party will work to restore the bonds of communal harmony and brotherhood among the people of the state.
He said that Mufti Muhammad Sayeed is responsible for diluting Article 370, internal-autonomy of the state and abetted the murder of democracy in the state in 1984.
Dr. Abdullah said the dubious role played by Mufti since 1953 is not a secret and the people of the state have recognized his nefarious designs which brought destruction and bloodshed to this peaceful state and shall never forgive him for his acts of omission
Dr. Abdullah said fortunately now the people of Jammu and Kashmir have seen through their (PDP’s) manipulative, self-centered politics and so shall defeat the PDP and remove it form the political horizon of the state by giving an absolute clear majority to the National Conference.
National Conference government will provide a stable government which will be committed for the welfare of the people of the state and shall work for their welfare and wellbeing, Farooq said.
