Coming down heavily on NC President & Union Minister Dr.
Faroq Abdullah for his recent utterances on” Rashtriya Ekta Yatra” and hoisting of national tricolor
at Lal Chowk on Republic Day, State BJP President Shamsher Singh Manhas said
that it has only unmasked the fickleness of his nationalism. The national flag
is hoisted at every chowk and intersection of roads in the entire length and
breadth of the country on the day. People celebrate the day by showering
flowers on national flag and salute it exuberantly and with fervor. Such an act
is neither a mark of any parochialism nor should it constitute any provocation
to any one.
Manhas said that saddest aspect of Dr. Farrooq Abdullah’s
utterances is total negative message that he has conveyed to all those people of
the country who intended to visit valley as tourists and thus has caused
economic damage to valley which is already reeling under crisis after stone
pelters’ activities.
Manhas said that Dr. Abdullah should have welcomed it
considering free run that stone pelters and their ilk had for six months in the
valley, so that all nationalist people in the valley feel encouraged and get
their morale boosted.
BJP Chief reminded Dr. Abdullah that he having remained CM
of the state couple of times and at present holding a Cabinet berth in Union
Ministry should know that Constitution does not bar any one from hoisting
national flag and celebrating Republic Day any where in India and he being a
Constitutional authority should facilitate and not condemn it.
Reviewing arrangements for forthcoming “Rashtriya Ekta
Yatra” and scheduled programme to hoist tricolor at Lal Chowk on Republic Day
by the activists of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Manhas chaired a
meeting of State Office Bearers, District Presidents and heads of Morcha, BJYM
activists. BJYM State President Munish Sharma convened the meeting.
