Jammu, February 21, (Scoop News)- N. N. Vohra, Governor of J&K, who is also the Chancellor of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST), Jammu, has appointed Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sharma, presently Assistant Director General (Education Planning and Development) Education Division, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, as Vice Chancellor of SKUAST, Jammu, for a period of five years or until he attains the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier, w.e.f. the date he takes over charge.
Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sharma is a well known Soil and Water Management expert and has served in the National Farm Universities at senior positions such as Chief Scientist (Water Management), Dean (Post Graduate Studies), Dean (Home Sciences), Dean (College of Agriculture) and as Vice Chancellor of Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur. Currently, he is serving as Assistant Director General (Education Planning and Development) Education Division, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi. He has a Masters Degree in Agriculture from Himachal Pradesh University and Ph.D. in Agriculture Physics from Indian Institute of Soil Sciences, New Delhi. Dr. Sharma has rich research experience of three decades and many of his papers have been published in reputed national and international journals.
While appointing Dr. Sharma as Vice Chancellor, SKUAST, Jammu, the Governor has expressed hope that with his taking over as the VC a strong push will be given to the research and academic activities in the University. The Governor has also thanked Prof. D.K. Arora, the outgoing Vice Chancellor, for his valued contribution and services to the University.
