Dr. Shawl’s allegation proves unfounded

             Jammu, March 20 (Scoop News) –  Without naming PDP Minister of State for Home, Nasir Aslam Wani Tuesday blamed main opposition party leadership for instigating Dr. Shawl to level false allegation against him at a press conference on June 6, 2010 in Srinagar.

            Replying questions at a press conference here this evening, Nasir Aslam Wani said that it was basically a conspiracy hatched against him by the top leadership of the main opposition party in which Dr. Shawl was used as a pawn. The top leadership of the opposition party was in regular touch with Dr. Shawl during his visit to Kashmir which Dr. Shawl himself indicated in the press conference.

            Nasir told the press that Dr. Shawl has submitted unconditional apology for the false allegations and baseless utterances made by the Doctor at the press conference. He said that Dr. Fayaz Shawl Clinical Professor of Medicine (GWK) Washington USA has submitted unconditional apology before the Court of Principal District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar.

            The Doctor in his affidavit says that in case conversation attributed by electronic and print media has caused any injury to the feeling and reputation of  Wani or his family the deponent tenders an unconditional apology. Nasir showed the copy of affidavit to the press and said that the State Law Department has informed him about the submission of apology by the Doctor before the Hon’ble Court.

            Nasir also read the e-mail Dr. Shawl has earlier mailed to  Wani rendering apology and seeking forgiveness for the pain inflicted by the Doctor to  Nasir and his family for leveling false allegation.

            Dr. Shawl in his e-mail has said that he had never met  Wani and media has wrongly attributed statement to him.

            In reply to a question Nasir said that Dr. Shawl was pressing for allowing him to construct hotel-cum-clinic in the green belt area where from drinking water is being supplied to the Srinagar city. “He was given various options for construction of hotel-cum-clinic in feasible areas in the Srinagar other than the green belt”, Nasir said adding that Dr. Shawl was adamant for construction at a place which was the source of supplying drinking water to the people.

            Requesting the media for taking extra care while reporting such allegations against the men in public life, Nasir Aslam Wani said that media reporting creates larger impact on the minds of people and tarnish the image of public representatives. “Till such allegations prove to be baseless and unfounded, the damage is already done”, he added.

            “Since Dr. Shawl made the allegations at a press conference, as such, I thought it befitting to provide you the copies of his unconditional apology submitted by him before the Hon’ble Court in the press meet”, Nasir said and sought the cooperation of media in helping the efforts of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah to nurture transparent and truthful politics in the State.
