Washington: The US Defence Secretary, Robert Gates said that the drone attacks would continue against the suspected Taliban and Al-Qaeda insurgents and the sanctuaries in the tribal areas of Pakistan.
These pilotless drone attacks started during the so-called democratic regime of a military dictator, Pervaiz Musharraf.
That regime was fully supported by the previous US Bush administration; these drone attacks have claimed numerous civilian lives so far in the tribal belt of North Western Pakistan.
The US Defence Minister, Robert Gates statement came at the time when a new US setup has taken over the White House and even the Pakistani establishment, whether in the print or electronic media, has assured the masses that with the Obama administration, things will be different.
Apparently, these cross-border strikes have jeopardized the peace of the region and , poor economy and destabilizing the country.
Moreover, the public opinion has turned against the US policies inside Pakistan and compounded the difficulties of the Pakistani establishment.
In fact, a fire would break out after the Robert Gates’ statement in the civil society and human rights organizations of Pakistan, which have already protesting the killings of the civilians in the tribal areas by the cross-border US strikes.
On the other hand, things have worsened in Afghanistan after the wrong US policies, which not only resulted in shape of the killings of the civilians, but it has triggered the public anger and anti-US and Karzai sentiments in Afghanistan.
