Junkies or drug addicts in the Philippines have already surpassed the 2006 statistics and based on the latest study, there are now more than 3.5 million habitual drug users nationwide. On the other hand, there are 1.6 million who uses drugs occasionally. Illegal drugs in the Philippines are easily bought in every part of the country. Drug syndicates in the Philippines are not only confined to the ordinary people but those who hold power and fame. Drug trade is a billion peso industry and it is already in the business for so many decades now and yet its eradication is farfetched. And the more illegal drugs proliferate in every section of society, the more people will be encouraged using drugs and eventually destroys the moral fabric of society. In some part of the country, most particularly in urban areas like Metro Manila, drug trades and addiction to it is already part of the system that have solidified its position in every nook and cranny of the city. The select honest authorities have no match to the powerful drug syndicates because of protection they are getting from the corrupt judiciary, police and politicians. Money is the reason why people go crazy in their lifetime. And drug use is also the reason why people suffer from mental disorder and family disintegration.
